Pineapple Cove Classical Academy is expanding. After a decade of proven success in Brevard County, we are bringing our time-tested classical education model to families in Hernando County.

Pineapple Cove Classical Academy began with a simple but powerful vision: to give families a K-12 option that continues the excellence of a strong early learning foundation.

That vision took root in Brevard County. In 2015, the first campus opened in Palm Bay, serving kindergarten through sixth grade. Demand from families was immediate and sustained. The school quickly grew into a full K-12 program, celebrating its first graduating senior class in 2022. A second campus opened in West Melbourne in 2018, followed by a third campus in the Lockmar community of Palm Bay in 2022.

Today, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy operates three campuses in Brevard County and has become the region’s only K-12 classical charter school network. The schools consistently earn high academic marks, including multiple “A” ratings from the State of Florida and recognition as a High-Performing Charter School. Thousands of scholars are enrolled, and substantial waiting lists reflect the strong desire among families for a content-rich, character-driven education.

From the beginning, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy has been affiliated with Hillsdale College. The partnership provides curriculum guidance, classical education resources, and a shared commitment to forming students who are strong in both mind and character. Hillsdale’s emphasis on educating an informed citizenry, content-rich instruction, and the cultivation of virtue has shaped the academic program across all of our campuses.

Our approach is built on classical principles: a rigorous, content-rich curriculum; traditional learning methods; and an intentional focus on virtuous living and civic responsibility. Students develop the essential tools of learning: the ability to read carefully, think clearly, reason soundly, write persuasively, and speak eloquently while growing in mind and character.

The success of Pineapple Cove Classical Academy is the result of dedicated teachers, committed families, strong leadership, and a clear mission that has remained consistent from the beginning.

The same classical education that has served Brevard families so well is now coming to Hernando County.

We are establishing a new Pineapple Cove Classical Academy campus to offer local families a tuition-free public charter school option grounded in the proven model developed and refined over more than a decade—and supported by our partnership with Hillsdale College. The Hernando County campus will open serving grades kindergarten through sixth, and will grow by one grade level each year until it becomes a full K-12 school.

Our goal is straightforward: to provide Hernando County students with the same rigorous academics, supportive culture, and character formation that have defined our Brevard campuses.

This expansion continues the original vision of founder John Moran—to create schools where young people are formed as intelligent, virtuous citizens prepared for lives of purpose and contribution.

The founding principal of the Hernando County campus will lead the school in implementing the full Pineapple Cove Classical Academy model and Hillsdale-supported classical curriculum, building a strong faculty, establishing a virtuous school culture, and partnering with families to deliver an outstanding classical education as the school grows from K-6 into a complete K-12 program.
